In this hands-on workshop, learn how to provide a supportive practice for acute or chronic lower back pain.
We will cover how to modify postures in order to stabilize the area, common issues associated with lower back pain and considerations for managing lumbar support and stability. Abbe will discuss ways to work with some of the most popular complaints as well as best practices for approaching pain and discomfort with honesty.

There are many cues we've become familiar with. We've heard things like "Knee over the ankle", "open your hips" or "square your hips", "relax your shoulders back and down" but where does that come from? What does it really mean? Is it always true?
We'll practice familiar pose finding unfamiliar feelings and learning what feels most supported and strong in your own body and ultimately learning modifications specific to you.

In Abbe’s Inverted Yoga Workshop we will shift our focus to handstands, forearm stands, and integrating backbends into these fiery poses.
Handstands, forearm stands and inverted backbends require strengthening the lower half of the posterior chain while maneuvering through front-body versus back-body activation. The key to breaking down these poses lie in understanding the mechanisms behind their transitions.
During this all-levels workshop we will build the basic framework for safe and sustainable inversions, backbends and transitions. Backbending is an important and powerful aspect of Hatha Yoga practice. In this two hour workshop we will master the science behind the backbends, hip opening and twists. Abbe will guide you on a visual narrative through the anatomy and biomechanics of this ancient art, decoding each pose along the way. We will go through a gentle progression of postures that will show you which body parts are needed to be opened and strengthened in matter to move safely into deeper backbends.
