Introducing Tom Myers
A love letter from Abbe
At the crossroads of applied anatomy, movement, and yoga therapy stands mister Tom Myers. A plethora of knowledge paired with a contagious passionate nature makes this guy impossible to resist. His videos and webinars break down complex anatomical studies in a way that is understandable, compelling and intrinsically relatable. After watching a video for the first time I remember thinking "holy shit, the human body is a miracle!" - This, above all else, is the premise his teachings convey.
Tom studied directly with Drs. Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais and Buckminster Fuller and has practiced integrative bodywork for over 30 years in a variety of clinical and cultural settings. He is the author of the best-selling Anatomy Trains (Elsevier 2001), is a pioneering researcher in how fascia relates to the structural health of the body.
If you have any interest in either yoga or anatomy I highly suggest picking up a copy of Anatomy Trains. It's a game changer.
Unfortunately, most of Myer's best resources require some sort of purchase but there are still a lot of freebies floating among the blogosphere.
Here are a few of my favorite links & videos featuring the man himself:
